OSS 117, à votre service
Had i not caught the trailer, i would have gone “OSS who??“. A movie based on a fictional spy/agent character created by James Bruce in 1949 (James Bond was created in 1953). The OSS 117 series is based Jean’s novels. The latest supposed “add on to the series”, OSS 117 : Cairo, nest of spies, is however a spoof on the entire spy/agent series which were popular in the 60s.

Bumbling but charming agent, with lack of verbal finesse and incredible luck takes on a mission in Cairo, Egypt. Getting into and out of tight spots, and with humourous denial of his sexual orientation. Surprisingly shot in a retro-like 50s camera style (check out the film colours!). Also do note the “easter-eggs” : subtle jokes (eg. swiping his hand over his “out of bed” hair and viola~!) and filming techniques, truely reminiscent of the movies of old. (see some footage of one episode of the old series on youtube)
If you do like French comedies (eg. Taxi 1,2 and 3), this might suit your movie tastebuds.
